Nikkei Horizons in Action

Wonders of Southern Arizona Tour

Adventurer Malcolm Kanemoto knew they were in Arizona when he encountered this huge blue agave plant!

On this 5-day, 4-night tour, the Nikkei Horizons group covered a lot of territory. Their days were packed with cultural, natural, historical, and architectural sights. They relaxed and rested most nights, but they took time to view the extraordinary night skies at Kitt Observatory.

Our adventurers saw:
HEARD Museum
Desert Botanical Garden
Old Town Scottsdale
Sabino Canyon
Mission San Xavier del Bac
Kitt Peak National Observatory
Kartchner Cavern
City of Tombstone
Sonora Desert Museum

After touring the HEARD Museum, the ladies took a peace break and rested their feet.

At the botanical gardens, Eileen Kanemoto had an encounter with a butterfly.

Up close and personal!

Cactus, of course, were everywhere!

Not every minute was go, go, go, though. The hardy adventurers did take breaks for meals. Here, Tak Miyabe tried to figure out how to fit his huge burger into his mouth!

Later, he made a new friend! (His demeanor was a little wooden, however…)

Whimsy and fun was an integral part of the tour, and the group couldn’t resist posing with this mural at Kitt Peak, outside of the Observatory.

A beautiful sunset promised even better views at the Observatory.

The art and the views were awe-inspiring, the Southwestern food was tasty (especially that Fry Bread…), the cactus were spiky as promised (but no one got stuck, thankfully!), and the company was wonderful. 5 days of fun and frolic in the Southwestern sun was a great adventure!

When is the next tour?
